Aloha, my name is Christopher Lopa. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in Hawaii. I find immense fulfillment in working with adolescent clients, particularly those aged 13-19, who are navigating challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. My comfort lies in creating a supportive and empathetic space for them to explore and address these issues. Witnessing their resilience and growth during this critical stage of development is incredibly rewarding, and I am passionate about helping them build the skills and resilience needed for a brighter future.

My therapeutic approach client centered. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to help my clients experience growth and gain coping skills that will serve them. Overall, clients can expect a supportive and collaborative space that encourages growth, self-discovery, and the pursuit of their personal goals.

As a somatic therapist, I help individuals reconnect with their bodies, process grief, and heal from trauma in ways that create lasting change. My practice focuses on trauma recovery, complex grief, and the deep emotional impact of losing an animal companion. Many of my clients are highly empathic people coping with compassion fatigue, moral stress, or burnout. I provide somatic therapy for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, as well as grief counseling for both human and pet loss. My approach integrates body-based awareness with psychodynamic insight.

Our Story

We are a women-owned counseling practice founded on Hawai'i Island.  We have over two decades of experience in clinical social work services and specialize in care for individuals and families. We met in 2017 through a mutual friend, and have dreamt about opening a therapy practice together since.  In 2024, our dreams started coming together and we formed Resilient Connections Counseling.  We are honored to serve our community on Hawai'i Island and the entire state.
